| As I looked through the comments on Drew's Mag minute a few words come up
more than once. Gnarly, raw, shreds, rips, hard working, fucking monster,
sketchy, blue collar, killing it. All these describe Drew perfectly. The guy
works his ass off nine to five and then works his ass off on a skateboard on
his time off. Read some of his words, check out some photos and make sure you
check out his footage over at The Skateboard Mags website. I personally
think The Weedian's comment about Drew is amazing. |
| Name, Age, Hometown? |
| Drew Dezort, 23, Hudson, Ohio. |
| So you're originally from Hudson, Ohio. What was your experience with
skating out there? |
| Growing up skating out there was a lot of fun. There are parks
everywhere, with no pad rules or fences and plenty of street spots
too. |

| Doesn't sound too bad. Then what made you decide to just pack up and
head for southern California? |
| One day out of the blue Kristian Svitak called me up and offered me a
spot on 1031. An opportunity to be skating in California was enough to
get me to come out here. |
| Tell me about your living situation when you first moved to California? |
| For a while I was washing dishes in Long Beach, sleeping in my car and
couch surfing. After a few months I was doing the same thing in Lake
Forest but working for focus board shop. I got sick of the bum life
and got a full time job at Black Box which put me on my feet. |
| Who hooked up the Black Box job? |
| Svitak knew some people at Black Box and helped me get the job. |

| Give me some information about working at Black Box |
| Black Box is the best job I have ever had. It's skateboarders working
for skateboarding. The people here are fun to be around, there's a
pool table in the break room and a skate park to say the least. |
| What made you decide to leave 1031? |
| I got over it. I didn't agree with a lot that was going on over there.
It was enough for me to not want to be apart of it anymore after all
the work I put in so I left. |

| What have you been doing since then? |
| Doing the same damn thing. Skating, haha. |
| Who do you mostly skate with now? |
| I skate a lot with Andrew Elliot, Chris Larue, and other San Diego
homies. I also go skate with my friend Ethan from work or the NS Krue. |

| Compare and contrast Cali and Ohio for me? |
| There's a lot more goin on in Cali. More opportunity and people. Nicer
weather too. Ohio is a good place to relax, its more open, less rules,
ect. |
| You're somewhat of a success story. Got any advice for kids trying to
live the California skate dream? |
| Do it, don't be a pussy. Go out and experience a new lifestyle. Work
hard and don't get discouraged. |
